A sad and complicated state of affairs. The fact that change — whether a version of the Lendor-Mason Act (which makes total sense to me) or something else — needs to happen at the state level leads me to believe that our best case will be reform along the Mason-Dixon line, creating an even more stark contrast in America’s divide. But we definitely need to start doing something and your ideas are as great a place to start as any— entertaining and thoughtful read.
